We left Crotone at 6.15 am and found superb conditions. A calm calm sea, no wind, and beautiful day. We saw dolphins quite soon and also a turtle. The sea was so smooth that we were able to read comfortably. It was our best best day. After 7 hours and 140 miles we arrived in Lakka, an anchorage in the north of Paxos.

Within one minute of anchoring we were in the sea and Ann swam to the shore to stand on Greek soil. It is beautiful here, the sea is deep turquoise and perfectly clear and the shore is covered in olive trees contrasting with cypress trees.
Ann celebrating our arrival in Greece
There is a small village and we went ashore in the dinghy after lunch and snooze and wandered about. Absolutely delightful. We enjoyed our first Greek taverna meal since our flotilla sailing days and had mezze to start, then M had prawn risotto and A had mussels and clams all by the side of the harbour. Ann won Scrabble.
June12
M checked through our papers. We had known that we were due to fly home on the 18th but we both had thought that was next Sunday. It turns out it is next Monday so we have an extra day. That is what happens to you when you spend 3 weeks wandering about in the Mediterranean. What we didn’t expect about the 3 weeks was that we would only need to apply sun protection and to bring out our cooler clothes today. The weather certainly has not been normal.

Our restaurant
So breakfast and ashore for a walk, shopping and a beer. We brought back with us a plate of the mezze from the restaurant to have for our lunch after we had a swim. The water is refreshing to get into but lovely after a while and so clear but few fish. After our snooze we went ashore again to take the plate back and to enjoy another meal in the taverna much like yesterday and back to the boat. M won Scrabble.
Very quiet anchorage and all yachties except for us. We often find this – that the vast majority of motor boats come for the day but leave in the evening except the yachties and us.
Tomorrow we are leaving here for Gouvia, our final destination.
